How To Apply Spray Tanning Solution

The following is a video guide detailing the full spray tanning process.

Once you or your client has prepared for the spray tan it is now time to get down to the actual spray tanning procedure. We recommend you start of with a basic check-list before you start the process as it will ensure you will not forget any of the important steps. Forgetting a simple step is an easy thing to do and a check-list will act as a safeguard and will ensure your client gets the best spray tan possible. The video below shows a typical spray tanning check-list which we recommend you all use:

Once you have your check-list ready you can begin the spray tanning process. You should start off with the feet and follow the procedure in the following video:

After the feet you should then proceed to apply the spray tan solution to the legs:

Spray tan technicians commonly neglect the inside leg area:

After the legs have been properly spray tanned you can begin to move onto the stomach, chest and back area. Care should be taken when spray tanning this area as it is not as porous as the rest of the body and there is an increased chance of the spray tan solution running:

Next is the arms. To achieve a more natural look the tan on the bottom of the arms should be lighter. Also care should be given when spray tanning the inside of the arms which should be done slightly lighter:

Once the arms are finished it is time to move on to the face. Your client at this point should be instructed to hold their breath and close their eyes:

Now that the spray tanning is complete it is extremely important to clean your equipment immediately after use. Equipment that is not cleaned after use usually ends up blocked which results in poor future results. The following video shows you the best way to clean your equipment:

At this point your client’s body should be evenly tanned. The results should look natural.

The final step in the process is to dust off excess spray tan solution which usually collects on the areas on your client’s body which have hair. The following video shows the method which should be used to remove the excess solution:

Finally you should recommend a good spray tan after-care regime to your client in order to prolong their natural looking spray tan.
